Wrestling With Joeylicious is a novel written by Drummer/Actor/Writer/Producer Joey Cassata and Christopher Lynn. I’m a huge wrestling fan and when I saw this book promoted on my Facebook timeline I thought to myself, “Who is this Joeylicious guy?” I assumed he was some independent wrestler I never heard of. I figured if he had written a book about his career, he must be somewhat well known. Then I saw that my buddies Matt and Cameron were about to interview him for Completely Damaged. So, I decided to give this book a go. And I even had the opportunity to interview Joey Cassata too. Stay tuned for my interview with Joey. The best way to describe Wrestling With Joeylicious is it’s a novel starring the alternate-reality version of Joey Cassata (i.e., Joeylicious), where he’s striving to make it as a successful professional wrestler. It’s the pro wrestling version of Rocky with a comedic slant. Joeylicious is regularly visited by visions of his wrestling heroes that only he can see. Think Quantum Leap where Sam sees Al but no one else can. This makes for hilarious scenes where Joey thinks he’s talking to Hulk Hogan, Mick Foley, Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, and other legends, but everyone around him thinks he’s nuts because he’s talking or interacting with thin air. What makes Wrestling With Joeylicious really interesting is it’s the first half of the first season of a forthcoming TV show. The videos above featuring Roddy Piper and Mick Foley are a a preview of what to expect from these episodes. You can watch several of these shorts right now on Amazon Prime Video for free, so I recommend you do so. They are excellent.

This book, Wrestling With Joeylicious, provides readers with an expanded view of what promises to be an excellent TV show. This novel is a fun, lighthearted read that will have you smiling and laughing the whole way through. It’s filled with legends of the ring, and its Rocky-inspired story makes for one that is compelling and relatable. When I interviewed Joey Cassata, he told me that the second book in the series is already done and that it’s coming next year. While wrestling fans will really enjoy this book, that’s not a prerequisite for reading it. Anyone who likes a good underdog story with a heavy dose of comedy will find a lot to love in Wrestling With Joeylicious.
