What color describes your personality and why?

What color describes your personality and why? We all know that colors have meaning. So, which color best describes who you are and why? Read on for my thoughts on this question, and let me know yours.

When I was a child, my favorite color was green. I have no idea why. I just decided one day that it was green, so that is what I always said whenever someone would ask me. As I write this, I’m wearing a green shirt I have had forever. My wife hates this green shirt, yet I continue to wear it. Why? Maybe because it’s green. Who knows?! The color green means life, so this shirt continues to live on.

As an adult, my favorite color is red. I think red is a fabulous color. It’s eye-catching, makes a statement, and there is something about it I enjoy. When I bought new glasses recently, I wanted red ones, like Sally Jessy Raphael. I didn’t find any, so I opted for butterscotch and a pair of prescription sunglasses with translucent blue around the eyes and tortoiseshell for the arms. Both make a statement, but they aren’t red. My Sally Jessy moment is yet to be.

What does the color red mean? It represents physical energy, lust, passion, and desire. All sounds good to me. Being virile and driven creates the potential for boundless opportunities and accomplishments. It’s as if I went from being alive (i.e., green) to living (i.e., red) over the past several decades. We’re supposed to mature and evolve. So, I’ll take it! My phone is red, and so am I.

How about you? What color describes your personality and why? Has it changed over time as mine did? What do you think that says about you as a person? Whatever your favorite color is, don’t feel trapped by it. Instead, let it embolden you to live your life the way you want and fully realize your potential.

  1. Jeanne – Searcy, Arkansas – a work in progress . . . God's grace has brought me through many traumas of varying intensities and I am alive today (both physically & spiritually) because of Him and His work: "For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus"-Philippians 1:6. My childhood was spent living in many places in the United States due to my family's music or ministry—The Hicks Family, made up of Olan & Barbara Hicks, my younger brothers, Clint & Chuck & me, sang in different combos (put out an album), does so no longer professionally . . . but, visit a family gathering in Searcy & you're bound to hear some foot-tapping sounds (or catch my dad & mom on the road)! I believe that every moment of each life path (the good & what I perceive as the bad) God works together for my good as His child whether I understand it or not. MUSIC and MINISTRY are still primary aspects of the path God has me walking—so exciting! Words that have encouraged me since 1980: ". . . giving them a garland instead of ashes,The oil of gladness instead of mourning,The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting So they will be called oaks of righteousness,The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified." Isaiah 61:3

Really insightful! Blue has always been my favorite color though the shade of blue (intensity) has changed over the years and I like more colors with my blue perhaps reflecting a gain in accepting more of myself and others. Thanks for sharing and asking interesting questions.

    • Thanks for your kind words and for sharing your thoughts. Have a great day!
