Today’s Bloganuary post is based on the prompt: “What is your mission?” Let’s jump in.

The question “What is your mission?” makes me think of mission statements. Every company has one. They are the goals and values of an organization. Most mission statements are nonsense because few companies care about more than making a profit. However, great companies have mission statements that reflect the way they operate, the people they hire, and the decisions they make.

As an individual, having a mission statement is an interesting idea. I’m a goal-setter. I’m always striving for new achievements in life (and video games). I think it’s important to set goals and achieve them because it gives you a purpose and a drive.

So, what’s my mission? To continually set and achieve goals and inspire others to do the same. I’m a professor and a parent. Inspirational leadership is necessary for both endeavors, and my mission statement will allow me to do just that.
