Today’s Bloganuary post is based on the prompt: “What makes a good leader?” Read on for my thoughts.

What makes a good leader? A variety of traits can make for a good leader. However, the one I prefer above all else is inspiration. An inspirational leader is the type of person who makes you want to work harder. They can do this by inspiring you with their words, actions, or both. It’s preferable if it’s both. After all, a leader who can motivate you with their words and inspire you with their actions is unstoppable.

I’ve worked for inspirational leaders in the past. I’ve also worked for those who didn’t have a clue about how to inspire their workforce. In fact, they deflated those who worked for them or even inspired them to leave the company. That’s not the inspiration I think they were looking for if you know what I mean.

Whether in an office or a classroom, I do my best to inspire those around me. I say to them: “I believe in you. I know you can do this.” It’s also just as important to say: “You did a great job. I’m proud of you.” Why? Because people are inspired by those who get them to accomplish something and those who express their appreciation. Gratitude inspires people to continue achieving more for themselves and your organization. Never lose sight of that.

  1. Your take on what makes a good leader is truly inspiring! Highlighting the importance of inspiration in leadership is a profound perspective. The way you’ve differentiated between leaders who motivate and those who deflate is so relevant in today’s work environments. Also, your personal approach to leadership, using encouraging words like “I believe in you” and showing gratitude, is a wonderful example of positive reinforcement. It’s clear you understand the significant impact a leader can have on their team’s morale and success. Keep sharing these valuable insights and uplifting others with your leadership style! 👏🌟💼
