Paul Stanley’s Art Show

This past Saturday was a great day. I got to meet Paul Stanley at his art show and have him autograph my cover story interview with him, which was published last week in The Aquarian Weekly. When I showed Paul the cover he said to me, “You also interviewed my son, Evan.” Considering how many people he meets on a daily basis, it was awesome to know that Paul remembered me and my work. I introduced him to my wife, and the three of us took a photo together. Then, Paul and I took a photo together and he held up the cover story, which I didn’t realize he was doing when the photo was taken.

Meeting Vinnie Vincent

This past weekend I met former KISS lead guitarist Vinnie Vincent, who I’m interviewing in a few weeks. Vinne was as nice as could be, and our photo together turned out great. After autographing the photo for me, as well as the hardcover book that came with the KISS Box Set, Vinnie asked me to stick around so I did. We chatted for several minutes about a variety of topics, including our mutual appreciation for diverse types of music.

A Conversation With Lydia Criss

Lydia Criss is the former wife of Peter Criss, KISS’ original drummer, and she’s the author of the fabulous book Sealed With A KISS. Her book, which has received universal praise from fans, is a deluxe hardcover collection of more than 1,500 rare and unpublished photos, as well as fascinating stories and memories from Lydia about KISS’ early days and her life with Peter. It’s a beautifully crafted book that KISS fans should absolutely pick up, as it’s one of the most intimate and personal accounts by someone who was close to the band during its formative years. Lydia was kind enough to speak with me about her book, as well as her marriage to Peter, her career as a photographer, and more. I hope you enjoy our discussion.

Book Review: KISS Klassified

KISS Klassified: War Stories From A KISS Army General is an excellent book. A million books have been written about KISS in the 1970s. If you’re looking for one that does an excellent job of covering KISS from 1980 through present day, this book is the best around. Unlike other KISS books, this one isn’t a detailed history of the band during a particular period of time. Rather, it’s the author’s account of his experiences with the band during these years. Peppered throughout are 750 fantastic photos, as well as interviews with and commentary by members of KISS. My only complaint is there are some language usage issues, but that’s understandable because the author is from Sweden. That minor complaint aside, KISS Klassified is a top-notch book that was lovingly put together. The graphical layout of the book is phenomenal, the stories are entertaining, and the passion is palpable. KISS fans should absolutely check it out, as it’s one of the best books about the band I’ve ever read.

What you’re about to read is the most honest review you will find for The Vault by Gene Simmons. A friend of mine who purchased The Vault let me listen to the CDs extensively, for the purpose of this review. Since I didn’t purchase a Gene Simmons Vault Experience for $2,000, $25,000 or $50,000, I have no obligation to rationalize the quality of this product as a way to convince others, or myself, that it’s worth buying.

July 23, 2003: My First KISS

On July 23, 2003 I met my favorite rock band, KISS, for the first time. As you can see from the smile on may face in the above photo, I was radiating excitement because I was so happy. Not only was this a free meet and greet with the “Hottest Band in the World,” my cousin, Chris, and I had the opportunity to purchase an autographed copy of the band’s new album, which had just come out, KISS Symphony: Alive IV.

Five Cover Stories In One Year

It took me three years to get an interview with Barry Manilow but this year it happened. Better yet, it wound up being a cover story – my first – for The Aquarian Weekly.
