Bloganuary: My Favorite Sports to Watch and Play

Today’s Bloganuary post is based on the prompt: “What are your favorite sports to watch and play?” Read on for my answer.

In elementary school, I played soccer and bowling. My grandfathers regularly showed me how to golf, and I had the opportunity to play on several courses and driving ranges over the years. I played flag football as a kid, as well as dodgeball, baseball, softball, and teeball.

At one point, I wanted to be a professional baseball player-by-play announcer. Nowadays, this makes me laugh because I don’t watch any sports.

While it’s not a traditional sport, I’ve always loved professional wrestling. It’s a live performance art that requires a massive amount of athletic ability.

I attended WrestleMania XXX, and I’m going to WrestleMania 40 this year in Philadelphia. I’ve interviewed and befriended countless wrestlers, and I’m slowly writing a book about the first 20 years of TNA Wrestling.

Despite my disinterest in watching sports, I usually attend at least one Phillies game a year because of the great atmosphere. I also love to play sports video games (go figure), including golf, baseball, and football games.

Sports may be a fun distraction for most or an ardent passion for some. However, the only time you’ll find me caring about them is if an Xbox controller is in my hand.
