Taking you into the realm of greed, revenge, and grave robbing, this installment presents a plethora of all-time greats penning five horrific stories that are all reverently narrated by everyone’s favorite cenobite: Doug Bradley. His distinct voice is perfect for audiobooks because Doug knows how to act with restraint and deliver lines with aplomb. Doug Bradley’s Spinechillers Volume 3 includes stories by the following authors:
- M.R. James
- W.W. Jacobs
- Robert Louis Stevenson
Doug Bradley’s Spinechillers Volume 3 is excellent! From the quality of the short stories to the audio presentation, this is how it should be done. My favorite story among those included is W.W. Jacobs’ “The Monkey’s Paw,” published exactly 118 years ago in September of 1902. This inventive tale is one that has been adapted for stage, TV, and film countless times. My favorite adaptation of it took place just last year in the Shudder-exclusive Creepshow. The episode is appropriately called “Night of the Paw” and it’s an excellent one.
It’s already September and Halloween is less than 60 days away. Kick things off right by listening to Doug Bradley’s Spinechillers Volume 3. Let Doug Bradley be your guide to classic horror literature, for this volume as well as those that precede it, are a veritable cornucopia of devilish delights perfect for this time of the year.
