Review: NWA EmPowerrr

On August 28, the NWA held its first-ever all-women pay-per-view, EmPowerrr, emanating from the Chase Park Plaza Hotel in St. Louis — a legendary home to a multitude of professional wrestling events over the years. In addition to EmPowerrr on August 28, the next day, on August 29, NWA 73 is taking place at The Chase, commemorating the 73rd anniversary of the formation of the National Wrestling Alliance, which took place in 1948. Read on for my thoughts on NWA EmPowerrr.

IMPACT Wrestling: Rebellion CELL-ebration

Advertisements

As you may recall, I took part in the Hard To Kill CELL-ebration hosted by IMPACT Wrestling. It was an excellent event where fans got to spend quality time with the stars of IMPACT Wrestling, ahead of the Hard To Kill PPV. If you missed out on that interactive fan event, another opportunity is here! On Sunday, April 25, at 11 a.m. ET, IMPACT Wrestling is hosting its next CELL-ebration. This one is taking place several hours before the Rebellion PPV, which features a historic main event where AEW World Champion Kenny Omega faces off against IMPACT World Champion Rich Swann in a title vs. title match. If you want to be part of this VIP experience, make sure to register now to secure your spot.

Book Update: Jason Hervey, D’Lo Brown, Deonna Purrazzo, Eddie Edwards, and More!

Over the past week, I’ve interviewed a slew of people who played an incredibly important role in the history of TNA/IMPACT Wrestling for my books about the company’s history. One of those people is Jason Hervey, who you may know best for his starring role in The Wonder Years. Jason was a phenomenal interview. We talked about the early days of TNA, when he was working with HealthSouth, the wrestling promotion’s original financial baker, how he joined TNA in 2010, alongside Hulk Hogan and his former business partner, Eric Bischoff, and much more. Other topics discussed include his thoughts on Dixie Carter, Jeff Jarrett, lawsuits he was involved in with HealthSouth and TNA, and Aces & Eights, just to name a few. I was very impressed by Jason’s honesty and respect and admiration for those he’s worked with over the years.

Review: IMPACT Wrestling Hard To Kill CELL-ebration

Advertisements

With Hard To Kill in the rearview mirror, 2021 is shaping up to be the year of IMPACT Wrestling. One of the things I’ve learned while looking into the company’s history is that they’ve never taken the fans for granted. I know, I know — that sounds like some line that celebrities or corporations use to emotionally appeal to consumers, but I’m being serious. IMPACT Wrestling is known for taking meet and greets to the next level. It’s never been a cattle call, where they simply try to get fans in and out. Not at all. Rather than seeing these fan experiences as merely financial transactions, the company and the talent go the extra mile to make every single fan feel special. Accomplishing this in the era of COVID is harder than ever, yet IMPACT continues to push the bar higher. A perfect example of this is the Hard To Kill CELL-ebration that took place the morning of this epic PPV. Read on for my full thoughts on this special fan experience.
