What chore do you find the most challenging to do?

What chore do you find the most challenging to do? Washing the dishes? Vacuuming? Cleaning the cat litter? Taking out the trash? Read on for my thoughts on this question, and let me know your thoughts too.

I don’t mind doing chores. I clean dishes, and I empty and fill the dishwasher. I’m in charge of cleaning the cats’ litter boxes, feeding them, and giving them treats. I also take out the trash and recycling every week, clean toilets and bathrooms, vacuum, and more. I also drop off and pick up Oliver from school daily, feed him when necessary, help change his diapers, assist with putting him down to sleep, and more. My wife does a ton of chores related to Oliver and other things. Both of us cook, but she cooks more than I do.

I don’t mind any of the chores mentioned above. However, the ones I don’t care for involve home improvement. I find them to be boring. I also have zero skills when it comes to home improvement. I’d much rather hire an expert in the field and have them do it. Not only will it get done right, but I can avoid the stress and free up my time. It’s a win-win.

My advice for doing chores is to view them as a way to improve your life. If you’re cleaning, you’re making your home more livable. If you’re taking care of your pets or children, you’re expressing your love for them and developing a deeper connection with one another. And if you’re engaging in home improvement chores (despite my aversion to it), you’re, well . . . improving your home. All chores serve a purpose, so that makes them worthwhile.

I listen to audiobooks while doing most chores because it helps make them more enjoyable. It is also a great way to continue reading a book I’m in the middle of, just starting, or looking to finish. I see it as a way to be productive on two fronts: chores and reading. Give it a try! I think you’ll like it. And good luck with those chores.

  1. Great post!
I decided to write about taking care of our 6 cats. I do not consider those things as chores. And, yeah, it’s a good idea to listen to audio-books.
