When I was a child, I would cry when people sang “Happy Birthday” to me. Why? Because I thought it was a sad song. If you talk to someone playing the back nine of their life, they might agree. Just like a new year, I don’t care about birthdays. I think they are worth celebrating. But I don’t get depressed about being a certain age. If I’m breathing, I’m winning. I prefer to make each day count and tackle my goals as often as possible. Age be damned!

Back to the topic at hand. Birthday cake! I think the perfect birthday cake is an ice cream birthday cake because you get ice cream and cake in one package. What’s not to love?! It’s way more interesting than a lame sheet cake from the grocery store. Maybe not as fancy as a multi-tiered cake sculpted at a local Italian bakery, but I’m a simple guy. Ice cream cake is also not as ordinary as regular cake, so when you arrive at a party where they are having one, it’s a fantastic surprise. Ice cream cake is the perfect birthday cake.
