You Cannot Kill David Arquette

You Cannot Kill David Arquette is a new must-see documentary that I highly recommend. “Branded as the most hated man in wrestling after winning a highly controversial WCW World Heavyweight Championship in 2000, actor David Arquette attempts a rocky return to the sport that stalled his promising Hollywood career. Dangerously determined to redeem his reputation and reclaim his self-respect, Arquette will stop at nothing to earn his place in professional wrestling.” This is the premise of You Cannot Kill David Arquette, and it’s exquisitely executed.

Filled with raw emotion, this documentary shows the rise and stall of one of Hollywood’s most promising actors. We see David talking about not being able to get an acting gig over a 10-year period, him debating whether or not he should have done Scream, wrestling fans’ open disdain for him because of a scenario that played out in WCW in 2000, which resulted in a Hollywood actor, not a wrestler who paid his dues, claim ownership of the top title in the promotion.

All great documentaries about a singular entity — in this case, David Arquette — should, at their heart, be a character study. As a viewer, I want to immerse myself in the feelings and the point of view of the subject who is being examined in great detail. You Cannot Kill David Arquette does this exceptionally well. If Rocky were a documentary, it would be called You Cannot Kill David Arquette. Internally, I was taken on a rollercoaster of emotions. From “What is he nuts?!” to “You can do it, David!,” I found myself on a journey that was unique and authentic. I wanted to see him fulfill his dream of redeeming his name within the minds of wrestling fans, and he did just that. You Cannot Kill David Arquette is a tale of triumph, redemption, perseverance, and passion that is beautifully told. It is the perfect representation of an unrelenting and indomitable human spirit overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds, and I couldn’t be happier to say You Cannot Kill David Arquette.
