Today’s Bloganuary post is based on the prompt: “What is your favorite animal?” Let’s get into it.
Cats are my favorite animal. Above is a photo of me during COVID-19, refusing to practice social distancing with my cats, Penny (left) and Pepper (right). You can see they were thrilled to take this photo with me.
So, why do I love cats? There are several reasons. First, they can be incredibly affectionate in their own way. For example, Penny, who is seven, loves to get on my chest in bed and press her forehead against my lips so I can kiss her. She also jumps up next to me on the couch at night so I can scratch her head.
Pepper naps with me regularly, and he loves feet, so he’ll nuzzle mine, even when I don’t want him to, like when I’m doing yoga. Pepper is 14 years old and still as energetic and affectionate as ever.
I make sure to kiss my cats every day and tell them I love them. I feed them, take care of their litter, and more. In exchange, they provide me with their affection on their terms.
All cats have unique personalities. They are loners who love as long as you’re open to it. They’re perfect city pets, and Pepper and Penny fill my life with joy. They adopted me, and I couldn’t be happier that they did.
