Bring On Tomorrow

Today was my last day at my current job. During my time there, I had the good fortune of working with many talented people on a variety of exciting projects. Now, I’m going to enjoy the holidays, relax and get ready for my new job. 2012 was a great year for me, and I’m looking forward to 2013. With this in mind, here’s one of my favorite songs, the appropriately titled “Bring On Tomorrow.”

A Few Of My Favorite Things

2012 was a great year and now that it’s coming to a close, here are a few of my favorite things.

Kindle Fire HD & Kindle Paperwhite

Kindle Fire HD

Kindle Paperwhite

Having spent countless hours with my Amazon Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Paperwhite, I can easily say these are two of my favorite things to come out of 2012. If you’re a lover of books and entertainment, I highly recommend you check them out.

Joe Cocker – Hard Knocks

Hard Knocks

This year I’ve incessantly listened to Joe Cocker’s Hard Knocks. It’s an infectious, modern pop/rock album that is filled with beautiful, memorable music.

Ken Follet – The Pillars of the Earth

The Pillars of the EarthYes, this book didn’t come out in 2012. But it is still one of my favorite things because I didn’t read it until this year. The Pillars of the Earth is a terrific book and the miniseries wasn’t too bad either.

The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises

This year saw the Dark Knight Trilogy come to an end with The Dark Knight Rises. It was my second favorite film in the series, with Batman Begins being the first, and it brought this masterfully executed trilogy to a satisfying conclusion. If you haven’t seen it yet, I recommend you do; it’s a great film from start to finish.

Parks and Recreation

Swanson Pyramid of Greatness

My new favorite TV comedy is Parks and Recreation. I’ve been catching up with it on Amazon Prime Instant Video, and it’s amazing. It starts off slow, but continues to build into an addictive show where you love nearly all the characters for their own quirky traits. There’s crude humor, wild stories and ridiculous one-liners. I’m on season three, and it keeps getting better with each episode.

Barry Manilow – My Favorite Things

What would a list of my favorite things be without Barry Manilow? Considering it’s the holiday season, I feel the following video is a fitting way to cap things off.

Thanksgiving: Count Your Blessings

While we should always be thankful for what we have and those that love us, now is the perfect time to reflect on this. With this in mind, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite songs: “Count Your Blessings.” Below are the lyrics and a video of Barry Manilow’s beautiful rendition of the song. Happy Thanksgiving!

Count Your Blessings

When I’m worried and I can’t sleep
I count my blessings instead of sheep
And I fall asleep counting my blessings
When my bankroll is getting small
I think of when I had none at all
And I fall asleep counting my blessings

I think about a nursery and I picture curly heads
Then one by one I count them as they slumber in their beds
So if you’re worried and you can’t sleep
Just count your blessings instead of sheep
And you’ll fall asleep counting your blessings

And I fall asleep counting my blessings

I think about a nursery and I picture curly heads
Then one by one I count them as they slumber in their beds
So if you’re worried and you can’t sleep
Just count your blessings instead of sheep
And you’ll fall asleep counting your blessings

Barry Manilow Returns To Broadway

20121022-190019.jpg

Tony, Grammy and Emmy-Award winning performer Barry Manilow is returning to Broadway in January 2013 for a limited engagement at the St. James Theatre. With 49 Top 40 hits and worldwide sales of more than 80 million records, Manilow on Broadway marks the music legend’s third Broadway production, and his first in more than two decades. The show begins January 18 and opens on January 24.

Barry Manilow is one of my favorite musicians, and I’ve had the good fortune of seeing him perform live twice, as well as meeting him in person. At nearly 70 years old, his voice is mystifyingly powerful and he still knows how to dazzle a crowd. I plan on attending one of the shows, and I highly recommend you do the same.

Here’s a medley of Manilow’s most popular hits from his 1989 Broadway production, Barry Manilow at the Gershwin:

My First Blogger Award

I’ve been blogging for less than a month, and today I was surprised with my first award. One of my followers, Hollin Scott, presented me with the “Very Inspiring Blogger Award,” which I now proudly display on my new “Awards” tab. Being recognized for doing good work is always a wonderful feeling, and I’m glad my blog brings enjoyment to my followers and visitors.

Since this award deals with inspiration, I’d like to share with you a song I’ve always found inspirational; it’s All The Time by Barry Manilow, and it’s about believing in yourself and realizing there are other people in the world just like you. As writers, we convey emotion through words so the reader can identify with what we create. This song’s beautiful lyrics resonate in a way that is mesmerizing, and Manilow’s heartfelt delivery only makes them more impactful. I’m certain you’ll be moved, and, who knows, maybe even inspired.
