Book Review — Wrestling With Joeylicious: The Saga Continues…

So far, this year, I’ve read more than 50 books. One of those books was Wrestling With Joeylicious: The Saga Continues… As you may recall, last year I reviewed the first book in this series, and I interviewed the author, Joey Cassata. I loved that book, and Joey has had one hell of a journey, literally enjoying both rock ‘n’ wrestling! If you loved the first Wrestling With Joeylicious book and found it as enthralling as I did, you’ll want to pick up a copy of the new book, which continues the storyline of the first. Read on for my thoughts on this new book.

Publisher’s Summary

Wrestling Legend Chris Jericho gives an unknown meatball from Brooklyn a shot at the Title. Will Joeylicious screw it up? Only time and a well placed clothesline will tell.

After getting his ass kicked by his lifelong hero Hulk Hogan in Tampa, Joey Cassata (AKA: Joeylicious) must crawl back home to Brooklyn a ruined man. Well, to be fair, he was already ruined, but now things are even worse. His best friend and useless manager, Scally, does his best to cheer up the Italian Daydream, but Joey is finally on the verge of hanging up his signature black singlet and red boas and calling it a career. Little does he know that his one chance in a lifetime is lurking just around the corner in the form of Pro Wrestling Champion Chris Jericho.

Featuring the Legends of Wrestling! Hulk Hogan, Chris Jericho, Mick Foley, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Jake “The Snake” Roberts and many more.

My Thoughts

Just like its predecessor, Wrestling With Joeylicious: The Saga Continues… is a fun time. It’s filled with wrestling legends, overflowing with comedic joy, and a welcome continuation of a compelling storyline. And there’s nothing wrestling fans, or avid readers, love more than a great narrative that hooks us from the beginning and has us wondering where the story is going and how the invariable conflict is going to be resolved. I don’t want to reveal any of the plot points in this book, beyond what’s in the publisher’s summary above, because doing so would spoil the experience. Just know this — Wrestling With Joeylicious: The Saga Continues… is just as good as the first book and a wonderful expansion on the humorous shorts bearing the same name. Here’s to hoping Joeylicious enjoys a long run.
