Continue readingEight years ago, today, The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) was released. I started ESO on April 1, 2020 and have since spent hundreds of hours playing it on Steam and Xbox. Needless to say, it quickly became my favorite video game. Since its inception, ESO has been overhauled, enhanced, and updated, making the game a fantastic experience for its millions of players. In honor of its eighth anniversary, let’s look at some of the major milestones in ESO history.
Continue readingThe Elder Scrolls is one of the most successful and influential video game series of all time. Greg Keyes was enlisted to expand on the rich lore of the Elder Scrolls universe through two novels: The Infernal City and Lord of Souls. Read on for my thoughts on the audiobook version of Lord of Souls.
Continue readingThe Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) is heading to High Isle this June! This new chapter and the year-long “Legacy of the Bretons” saga were announced during the 2022 Global Reveal Event. As a new owner of an Xbox Series X, I’ve been playing ESO daily and loving it. And, mind you, this was after playing more than 200 hours of ESO on PC via Steam. I can confidently say that ESO on Xbox is a way better experience, and I look forward to diving into this new chapter in June. Read on for videos, photos, and details from the ESO team about what’s in store for us in High Isle.
Continue readingI love movie novelizations, as well as video game novelizations. They provide a deeper dive into worlds and universes that fascinate me. With this in mind, I listened to the Audible Original Godzilla vs. Kong by Greg Keyes, who, you may remember, wrote the two official Elder Scrolls novels. So, does Godzilla vs. Kong measure up to the movie that inspired it? Read on for my thoughts.
Continue readingHaving sunk hundreds of hours into various video games in The Elder Scrolls franchise, I’m a massive fan of this series. Therefore, I’m always looking for different ways to immerse myself in the world that is The Elder Scrolls, whether it be through the soundtracks, tabletop games, or novels. With this in mind, I was eager to read The Elder Scrolls — Zaneta’s Chronicles, Part One: Vvardenfell by A.L. Zuniga. This book is the first in a trilogy about a character named Zaneta, and it is set in The Elder Scrolls’ universe.
Continue readingThe Witcher is one of the most influential and successful video game series of all time. Inspired by a series of best-selling books, The Witcher universe has become expansive, now including a hit TV show on Netflix entering its second season. The Witcher video games have sold well over 50 million copies, with more than 30 million of those sales attributed to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a game so wildly popular that it keeps getting released on new video game systems, most notably, the Nintendo Switch, which is the version I’m currently playing. But if you’re new to this fantastical universe and you want to get caught up on all of the specifics, should you buy The World of the Witcher: Video Game Compendium? Read on for my thoughts.
Continue readingThe Elder Scrolls is one of my favorite video game series of all time. I enjoy all entries in this franchise, including the spinoffs and The Elder Scrolls Online. While many of The Elder Scrolls games have been successful, Skyrim is the one that practically everyone knows. The fifth entry in the series, it has sold over 30 million copies across various systems since its release in 2011. This summer I completed the main quest in this game, along with numerous side quests, on the Nintendo Switch. I also sunk more than 150 hours into The Elder Scrolls Online on my PC – which is an excellent game that I highly recommend. When I read that Skyrim’s open world was coming to a tabletop game created by Modiphius, entitled The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms, I was intrigued.
