As crazy as it may seem, June is almost upon us! With a new month comes a slew of new content on Shudder. During these times when many of us are social distancing, it’s good to see that Shudder is keeping the horror fans among us entertained with top-tier content. In March 2019 I met Joe Bob Briggs, the wildly popular authority on drive-in movies who currently hosts horror movie marathons on Shudder, as well as The Last Drive-In: a weekly double-movie marathon featuring Joe Bob’s hilarious and insightful musings, Darcy “The Mail Girl,” and special guests. Speaking of which, Season 2 of The Last Drive-In airs this Friday at 9 p.m. ET and it features guest co-host Chris Jericho. Read on for my interview with the legendary Joe Bob Briggs, where we discuss horror movies, wrestling, books, and more.
April has long been celebrated by horror fans as the halfway point to Halloween, and this year Shudder makes it official with the launch of Halfway to Halloween Month. Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thriller and the supernatural, will offer its biggest month of non-October programming ever, at a time when many people are turning to streaming to help entertain them while they’re social distancing and quarantining.
Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thrillers and the supernatural, announced today that Joe Bob Briggs, host of The Last Drive-In, will return on December 13 with an all-new special, Joe Bob’s Red Christmas. The triple feature of holiday horrors will stream live at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on Shudder in the U.S. and Canada. It will also be made available on demand later in December. The special will be Briggs’ second of the year, following Joe Bob’s Halloween Hootenanny, which premieres tonight at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on Shudder in the U.S. and Canada.
In March, at NJ Horror Con and Film Festival, I met Joe Bob Briggs, who is an actor, writer, and the host of The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs on Shudder. For decades Joe Bob has been sharing his insightful film commentary and witticisms with millions of viewers. You might know him from TMC’s Joe Bob’s Drive-In Theater or MonsterVision on TNT, which were popular programming in the 1980s and 1990s, or The Last Drive-In on Shudder, where he literally broke the internet in 2018. You might even know Joe Bob for his reviews of movies in the Dallas Herald Times in the early 1980s. Regardless of where or when you first discovered Joe Bob, he’s not the kind of person that you forget.
This Saturday I’m meeting Joe Bob Briggs at the New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival. A day prior, March 29, his new weekly series debuts on Shudder: The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs. For those that are unfamiliar with it, Shudder is a premium streaming video service owned and operated by AMC, serving fans of horror, thrillers, and supernatural movies and TV shows. I think it’s a wonderful service that is overflowing with excellent content that I’m constantly backlogged on. Having thoroughly enjoyed Joe Bob’s standalone Shudder specials over the past several months, I look forward to his weekly Friday night double-features. Below are more details on this show and a trailer. Enjoy!
