This past Saturday, July 17, IMPACT Wrestling welcomed back fans for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it did so with one of the biggest shows of the year: Slammiversary on FITE. This year’s event marks the 19th anniversary of IMPACT Wrestling, formerly TNA Wrestling. As many of you know, I’m writing a book about the first 20 years of TNA/IMPACT Wrestling. But now that the dust has settled, let’s take a look at this year’s Slammiversary!

Last night, I joined the guys at The Talking Nonsense About IMPACT Wrestling Podcast to spill the T-N-A on the latest developments regarding the book I’m writing about the first 20 years of TNA/IMPACT Wrestling. As always, it was great chatting with the guys, answering questions, playing a fun game, and filling people in on the latest details regarding my book. I look forward to returning next month to talk about Slammiversary results and much more. Until then, check out the full episode from last night below.

I had the honor and pleasure of interviewing Bob Carter, Dixie Carter’s father, for my book about the history of TNA/IMPACT Wrestling! Yes, that Bob Carter — the man who saved TNA in 2002 when HealthSouth cut off funding. Knowing that I’ve had the opportunity to interview both Richard Scrushy of HealthSouth and Bob Carter of Panda Energy for my book is incredible. Bob and I talked about his thoughts on Dixie, TNA, his wife and son, Jeff Jarrett, and more. He was as nice as could be, and I’m delighted that he was kind enough to speak with me for this project.

On June 3, IMPACT Wrestling issued the press release below announcing that it is welcoming back fans at Slammiversary on July 17 in Nashville at Skyway Studios, which has been the home of IMPACT Wrestling TV tapings and live broadcasts since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Tickets, which were priced at $250 a piece (nearly $300, when you factor in taxes and fees), sold out in approximately one hour. Read on for my thoughts on this exciting news.

On May 18, IMPACT Wrestling ring announcer David Penzer sent out a tweet saying that he had witnessed one of the greatest matches, if not the best, in his 44 years of watching wrestling. My interest was immediately piqued by this revelation. We would soon learn that the bout referenced was the first-ever 60-minute Iron Man Match in the history of IMPACT Wrestling, pitting X Division Champion Josh Alexander against TJP. Read on for my thoughts on this match, as well as videos of the IMPACT Press Pass prior to the match, featuring Josh Alexander, TJP, and Gail Kim, and the full uncut version of the match itself.

Last night I joined the guys at the Talking Nonsense About IMPACT Wrestling Podcast to provide my monthly update on my book about the history of TNA/IMPACT Wrestling, and to answer questions from the fans. Despite some audio issues caused by the live Twitch stream, I had a wonderful time sharing updates with everyone about Kevin Nash, Velvet Sky, the structure of my book, potential subsequent books, and more. You can watch the full video below. Enjoy!

I’ve got a big update on my book project: I had the opportunity to conduct a two-hour interview with the most popular female wrestler in the history of TNA/IMPACT Wrestling, Velvet Sky! Yes, that’s right, I’ve now interviewed both of the original members of The Beautiful People: Angelina Love and Velvet Sky.

It’s IMPACT Wrestling night! You can tune in at 8 p.m. ET on AXS TV, Fight Network (Canada), and Twitch. It’s a massive evening of hard-hitting action, including the debut of New Japan’s El Phantasmo. Of course, without the people behind the scenes putting in all their hard work, we wouldn’t have the IMPACT shows, PPVs, and specials that we love. With this in mind, I interviewed IMPACT Wrestling Floor Director Ingrid Isley for my books about the history of IMPACT Wrestling, and, among other topics, she shared her thoughts about why she loves working for the company.

Last night was Rebellion! We got the historic main event featuring AEW World Champion Kenny Omega in a Title vs. Title Match against IMPACT World Champion Rich Swann, as well as a slew of additional bouts that resulted in a fast-paced and, ultimately, satisfying show that I rank among some of the greatest wrestling PPVs I’ve ever seen.
