20 Years of IMPACT: 2021

Kenny Omega’s arrival in IMPACT sent shockwaves all through the wrestling world. Omega made his in-ring debut at Hard To Kill as the team of him and The Good Brothers faced the trio of Rich Swann, Moose and Chris Sabin. Despite an impressive fight from the IMPACT trio, Omega pinned Swann and set in motion a historic title match. Swann would survive a difficult challenge against Moose at Sacrifice before an even bigger challenge was coming. At Rebellion in April, the IMPACT World Champion Rich Swann would face the AEW World Champion Kenny Omega in a Title vs. Title match.

IMPACT World Champion vs. AEW World Champion PPV Match Announced

Last night, IMPACT Wrestling dropped its biggest bombshell since collaborating with AEW. This Saturday’s main event, during the IMPACT Plus exclusive special Sacrifice, between IMPACT World Champion Rich Swann and TNA World Champion Moose will unify those titles. IMPACT Wrestling Executive Vice President Scott D’Amore shocked the world even more when he announced that the winner of this title unification bout at Sacrifice will go head-to-head with AEW World Champion Kenny Omega in a title vs title match on April 24 at the IMPACT Wrestling Rebellion pay-per-view.

Just like the main event at Hard to Kill in January featuring Kenny Omega, this is another groundbreaking first for IMPACT Wrestling; and it’s a historic event in the world of professional wrestling, creating a sense of unpredictability that hasn’t been seen or felt since the height of the Monday Night War in the 1990s between the WWF and WCW. Below is the full press release from IMPACT Wrestling with all of the details. Make sure to tune in to Sacrifice this Saturday, and order Rebellion now because both of these events will forever alter the professional wrestling landscape.

Book Update: More Than 70 Interviews, Including Petey Williams

The updates for my books about the history of TNA/IMPACT Wrestling keep rolling in! I’m now at more than 70 interviews, including Petey Williams — the master of the Canadian Destroyer and former member of Team Canada. We spoke at length about his storied career in TNA/IMPACT Wrestling, both in the ring and behind the curtain. Maple Leaf Muscle, Scott Steiner, Scott D’Amore, Eric Young, Bobby Roode, Jeff Jarrett, Dixie Carter, and much more was covered in our discussion. Want to know what went into Petey producing the epic Hard To Kill main event featuring AEW’s Kenny Omega? You’ll learn about that and a whole lot more because commentary from Petey Williams will be featured in both of my books about the history of TNA/IMPACT Wrestling.

Review: IMPACT Wrestling Hard To Kill CELL-ebration

With Hard To Kill in the rearview mirror, 2021 is shaping up to be the year of IMPACT Wrestling. One of the things I’ve learned while looking into the company’s history is that they’ve never taken the fans for granted. I know, I know — that sounds like some line that celebrities or corporations use to emotionally appeal to consumers, but I’m being serious. IMPACT Wrestling is known for taking meet and greets to the next level. It’s never been a cattle call, where they simply try to get fans in and out. Not at all. Rather than seeing these fan experiences as merely financial transactions, the company and the talent go the extra mile to make every single fan feel special. Accomplishing this in the era of COVID is harder than ever, yet IMPACT continues to push the bar higher. A perfect example of this is the Hard To Kill CELL-ebration that took place the morning of this epic PPV. Read on for my full thoughts on this special fan experience.

New IMPACT Wrestling Broadcast Team Debuts at Hard To Kill

This Saturday is the biggest PPV for IMPACT Wrestling in many years because it’s the first time the company is collaborating with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) for a major event. Not only will AEW World Champion Kenny Omega be in the main event, but there will be a new broadcast team calling the action. IMPACT Wrestling announced that Josh Matthews and Madison Rayne are no longer doing play-by-play and color commentary. Starting at Hard To Kill, and going forward, Matt Striker and D’Lo Brown are taking over these duties. I’m thrilled to hear this news and can’t wait to see what this new team has to offer. Below is the full press release from IMPACT Wrestling with all of the details.
